1st Hawaiian Pro-Am Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Series 2000 Tournament Rankings This is Joao Morais and the Brazilian & North Shore Freestyle Jiu-Jitsu Alliance's contribution in order to create better matchups when creating the keys for future BJJ tournaments in Hawaii. The scoring for the rankings are unique, in that a competitor is encouraged to score as many points as possible using the normal BJJ point system (Takedowns 2 points, Sweeps 2 points, Knee on the belly 2 points, Passing guard 3 points, Mounting 4 points, Back 4 points). However, for matches that end in submissions the competitor is awarded an additional 10 points, which is added to the points that they accumulated throughout the match. The points are accumulated and 20 points are added for each 1st place finish and 10 points for a 2nd place finish. The total score of each fighter will be recorded and at the end of the tournament. The tournament organizers are maintaining on record the total points of each fighter. The points will be added to the points the fighter gets at the next tournament until all four tournaments are completed. At the end of the four tournament series, the competitor with the most points will be awarded as the most technical fighter for that belt ranking (white, blue, or purple).
